Visiting a Foreign Country

My sweet cousin absolutely adores traveling. Every year, she and her family go on multiple vacations. Recently, my cousin and her daughter vacationed in the Dominican Republic. Almost immediately after her beach trip, my adventurous relative and her husband traveled to Paris. Would you like to visit a foreign country for the first time this year? Consider hiring an experienced travel agent to help you plan a vacation you’ll be talking about for years to come. On this blog, I hope you will discover the benefits of consulting with a travel agent before traveling abroad for the first time. Enjoy!

Common Questions About Going On A Bourbon Tour

by Noah Mitchell

Bourbon is a classic American liquor. It is common to go on a bourbon tour. These tours take you to a few different distilleries where the bourbon is made. They can be great fun, especially if you go with friends. However, if you are new to the idea of bourbon tours, you might have a few questions about them, such as the following.

Do you get to drink bourbon?

Yes, sampling bourbon is usually part of the bourbon tour. Typically, you will visit and learn a little about the distillery, and then they will guide you through a tasting of their bourbon. They may just have you sample one bourbon, or they may have several for you to try. It really depends on the distillery. The samples do tend to be small. However, if you are worried you will have too much, most distilleries do supply containers that you can spit your samples into. It is not considered to be inappropriate or rude to do so.

What will you learn on the tours?

You will usually learn a bit about the history of the distillery, its origins, and how it does business. You will also learn the basics about how they make their bourbon, although you should not expect any trade secrets to be shared. On some tours, you will learn more about the history of bourbon as a whole and how it became such a popular drink. You may also learn how to sip and taste bourbon. Some places will even show you how to make a bourbon drink or two.

Do you have to drink?

Nope! If you do not like to drink but have been invited to join a bourbon tour, you can go right ahead. You can still have a great time without sampling the bourbon. Distilleries tend to be set amongst gorgeous land, and the buildings on these properties can be stunning. The history lessons should also be enthralling, even if you do not drink. Just tell the host or bartender up-front that you do not want samples so they don't accidentally pour you any.

With these questions answered you should be well-prepared to go on your bourbon tour. Most visit a couple of distilleries, so you can expect to enjoy a diverse and wonderful experience.
