About Me

Visiting a Foreign Country

My sweet cousin absolutely adores traveling. Every year, she and her family go on multiple vacations. Recently, my cousin and her daughter vacationed in the Dominican Republic. Almost immediately after her beach trip, my adventurous relative and her husband traveled to Paris. Would you like to visit a foreign country for the first time this year? Consider hiring an experienced travel agent to help you plan a vacation you’ll be talking about for years to come. On this blog, I hope you will discover the benefits of consulting with a travel agent before traveling abroad for the first time. Enjoy!

The Best of the West -- 4 American Wine Tour Regions Close to Home

by Noah Mitchell

If you're a wine lover who can't travel to the famous wine making regions of the world, you may think that there's no way to really indulge your passion for the grape. But, even in the far west of the United States, you can find great places for wine tours much, much closer to home. Here are four fantastic wine touring regions in the heart of the west.

Napa Valley. The most famous wine making area in the U.S. is in California, and it can be a mecca for aficionados. Napa Valley hosts hundreds of high-quality and world famous vineyards. You can also window shop in the quaint towns, take a hot air balloon ride over lush fields, and enjoy the many arts festivals. If you plan a wine tour in Napa Valley, though, be sure to budget a little extra, since popularity also brings higher prices.

Snake River Valley. Idaho may be best known for its potatoes, but it has some excellent wineries, too. Long, sunny days and crisp nights create balanced and fun wines that can be paired well with the menus of many local Snake River Valley farmers and restaurants. The valley and the Owyhee Mountains nearby also promise a vacation filled with outdoor activities and stunning views from your hotel room. Because it's a newer and less famous region, you'll find lower vacation costs and less crowds.

Walla Walla. Washington is another place that many people associate with another food or drink -- in this case, coffee. But, the eastern part of the state has an entirely different climate and weather much more conducive to grape growing. You'll find a particular affinity for Bordeaux varietals, but it's not limited to that. The good weather for much of the summer means you can spend a lot of time enjoying your wine outdoors and keeping an eye out for the famous bird migrations of the region.

Sonoma Valley. While not as famous as its cousin, Napa Valley, California's Sonoma Valley makes for a more budget-friendly wine destination if you live in California or Oregon. Santa Rosa is a great base for your trip, and you'll enjoy other amenities like cycling, antique shops, microbreweries, and a lot of history.

No matter what part of the west you live in, you're sure to find fantastic places for a wine tour not too far from you. Talk to a company like Ambassador Limousine that specializes in wine tours for more information.
