If you have ever wanted to ride in a limo, then you probably have a good idea of how expensive your luxury ride can be. Here are three examples of what those pricing constructs are and why it is useful to know them.
Charging Limo Service by the Hour
Usually, if you take a limo from the airport to a hotel, meeting, conference or business lunch, the limo service that picks you up will charge by the hour. Their drivers are focused on getting as many customers to their destinations as safely as possible. It is very similar to taking a taxi, but instead of riding by the mile you are riding by the hour, or the nearest quarter or half hour for easier billing purposes. While this is probably the most expensive way to ride a limo and you are not likely to take the limo around for hours at a time after getting off a plane, it is a very nice way to arrive somewhere important in style.
Charging by the Time Block
This pricing construct is the way most people rent and ride a limo. For time blocks of two, three, four or more hours, customers can rent the limo and use it for special events, such as weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, bar/bat mitzvahs, Christmas and New Year's Eve celebrations. Often when you rent by the time block, a discount is shaved off of the hourly price because you are renting the car for a much longer period of time and the discount is a business courtesy extended to you.
Getting the Limo in a Tourism or Travel Package
Another pricing construct used by many limo service companies is to include their services in a tourism or travel package. Tours by limo of vineyards in Southern California is one popular travel and tourism package. Another is a New York Christmas lights travel package that allows the passengers (i.e., the whole family) to view the many beautiful holiday light shows while relaxing comfortably from their seats in a stretch limo. There are travel and tourism packages of all kinds like this, and in each, the price of the limo is part of the package. Quite often, the price is significantly reduced as part of the deal, making this pricing construct one of the most popular with customers.
