About Me

Visiting a Foreign Country

My sweet cousin absolutely adores traveling. Every year, she and her family go on multiple vacations. Recently, my cousin and her daughter vacationed in the Dominican Republic. Almost immediately after her beach trip, my adventurous relative and her husband traveled to Paris. Would you like to visit a foreign country for the first time this year? Consider hiring an experienced travel agent to help you plan a vacation you’ll be talking about for years to come. On this blog, I hope you will discover the benefits of consulting with a travel agent before traveling abroad for the first time. Enjoy!

3 Points To Keep In Mind About Tipping After Your Airport Shuttle Ride

by Noah Mitchell

Riding in a shuttle from your hotel to the airport in the hours before you catch your flight is advantageous for a number of reasons. You won't have to fuss over parking, you'll be sure to get dropped off right where you need to be and, in many cases, the ride is complimentary. Considering all these perks, you should feel that tipping your shuttle driver is a small price to pay for the convenience of this method of transportation. Instead of simply tipping the driver by giving him or her whatever pocket change you're carrying, it's valuable to familiarize yourself with the tipping process to ensure that you give the right amount.

Two Dollars Is The Suggested Base Amount

It's worthwhile to keep in mind that giving $2 to your shuttle driver is an acceptable amount. Remembering this number will not only help you avoid tipping too little, but will prevent you from inadvertently tipping more than is necessary. You should also remember that the $2 tip recommendation applies on a per-person basis. This means that if you're traveling to the airport with two children, you should technically plan to tip about $6. This is because your children will be occupying seats that would otherwise be taken by adults who would likely tip the driver.

Tip More For Luggage Help

Although there's no set amount that you should tip if your shuttle driver assists you with your luggage, the convention is to give a little more if he or she helps you in this manner. Many shuttle drivers will load your suitcases into the shuttle outside the hotel and then remove them upon arrival to the airport, which saves you the hassle and the heavy lifting. Tipping a little more upon receiving this help is polite. If you're comfortable carrying your own luggage, there's no need to tip beyond the suggested base amount.

Make The Exchange Quick

You'll want to give your tip once you arrive at the airport -- and after you collect your bags if the driver is unloading them for you -- but it's best to complete this exchange quickly. At large airports, the shuttle might be heading to a different terminal after dropping you off, which means that other passengers are waiting and could be in a rush. You can tip in one of two ways -- hand the driver the cash directly or place it in the shuttle's tip jar as you climb out of the vehicle.
